Family · 3D2N JeepGroup of eight, two private jeeps
We were a group of eight friends — booked two private jeeps with Ha Giang by Jeep. Our drivers showed us the most beautiful routes and stops, not just the tourist ones. We felt safe the whole trip. Truly recommend Ha Giang by Jeep for anyone wanting comfort while still seeing the real Ha Giang.

Friends · 4D3N JeepBirthday cake at Ban Gioc — 10 out of 10
Best experience ever. The Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tour is a must-do in Vietnam. Our drivers Hieu and Su were truly amazing — we now call them friends. They went above and beyond. It was my birthday during the loop and they surprised me with a cake at Ban Gioc Waterfall. #1 driver team.

Friends · 5D4N HG–CB10/10 experience with the jeep!
3D2N jeep trip with Son and Luan. We had high expectations and they were completely exceeded. If you're not a fan of motorbikes, the jeep is the way to go. You travel along all the small mountain roads — you don't miss a thing. The food at every stop was outstanding. 100% recommended!

Groningen, NL · CoupleOpen-top jeep — best trip of my life
As someone who has travelled extensively, this was the most exciting, fun and authentic experience I've ever had. We did the 3-day open-top jeep tour. 360° panoramic views for three days with the roof down, listening to music, sharing beers, enjoying the company of an amazing local driver. Best experience of my life.

Friends · 3D2N Open-topSolo female — felt safe the whole trip
Solo female traveller here, and I felt completely safe on the Ha Giang Loop with Ha Giang by Jeep. Private jeep just for me, English-speaking driver Nam who was respectful and shared so much about local H'Mong culture. Accommodations were clean and well-chosen. Couldn't recommend more for solo women.

Solo · 4D3N JeepBest family trip we've done
I went with my wife and two kids (18 and 21) for the 4D3N jeep tour. Ha Giang by Jeep were extremely well organized. Our driver had amazing local knowledge and the kids loved the open-top sections. Have doubts about doing 4 days? Ignore them — best family trip we've done. So much more comfortable than motorbikes.

Family of 4 · 4D3NIncredible Northern Vietnam adventure
5D4N Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tour with our wonderful driver Toan. Amazing time exploring both the Dong Van Karst Plateau and Ban Gioc Waterfall. Each night a different special place — H'Mong homestay, hotel in Meo Vac, beautiful farm, stone-house homestay near a cave. Pac Bo and Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda were unexpected highlights.

Hoboken, NJ · 5D4N JeepHidden viewpoints we'd never have found
My fiancé and I had the most amazing 3-day jeep tour with Hung. We enjoyed unreal panoramic views over Ma Pi Leng Pass, gorgeous food at every stop, and so much fun. Hung's knowledge of the area was impressive — he showed us hidden viewpoints we'd never have found alone. Sad to say goodbye, would come back in a heartbeat.

The mountains don't wait — your jeep is ready
Sunrise breaking over Ma Pi Leng Pass. Cool mountain air rolling through open jeep windows on an empty switchback. Stilt-house dinners with H'Mong families who don't speak your language but somehow understand every laugh. The Ha Giang Loop isn't a destination you tick off — it's a journey that rewires how you see the world. Three days, four days, sometimes six — long enough to forget your inbox, short enough to feel every kilometer pass beneath the wheels. Ha Giang by Jeep has guided hundreds of travellers across Dong Van Karst Plateau and Non Nuoc Cao Bang, two UNESCO Global Geoparks linked by Vietnam's most legendary mountain road. Your English-speaking local driver handles every turn — you handle the camera. The only thing missing is you.

Ha Giang jeep tour FAQs
Everything travellers ask before booking a private 4×4 jeep tour with us — duration, pricing, what's included, and what to expect on the road.
How many days should I book for a Ha Giang Loop jeep tour to experience it properly?
For a meaningful experience of the classic Ha Giang Loop by jeep, we recommend a minimum of 3 days / 2 nights. This covers the highlights — Quan Ba Heaven Gate, Tham Ma Pass, Dong Van Karst Plateau, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Ma Pi Leng Pass and Du Gia Waterfall — at a reasonable pace.
If you want to slow down, visit more remote H'Mong villages, hike to viewpoints and add a Nho Que River boat trip, our 4 days / 3 nights jeep tour is the sweet spot. To extend the journey through Cao Bang and end at Ban Gioc Waterfall, choose the 5D4N or 6D5N Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tour.
Rushing the Ha Giang Loop in 2 days is technically possible, but you'll miss the best stops — we don't recommend it.
What is the best time of year to do a Ha Giang loop jeep tour — rice terrace season or buckwheat flower season?
Each season on the Ha Giang Loop has its own beauty, and a private jeep means weather is rarely a problem.
September – early October: golden rice terraces in Hoang Su Phi and Tham Ma — the most photographed time of year.
Mid-October – November: pink and white buckwheat flowers carpeting the karst valleys around Dong Van and Lung Cu. Peak season for jeep tours.
December – February: cool weather (8–18°C), misty mornings, plum blossoms appearing late January. Quietest season.
March – May: pear and plum blossom, comfortable temperatures, fewer tourists.
June – August: lush green rice paddies, dramatic clouds, occasional afternoon rain — great for moody photography.
Inside a 4×4 jeep, rainy days are no issue — you stay dry and warm while watching the mist roll over the karst peaks.
How far in advance should I book a Ha Giang by jeep tour, especially during peak season in October and November?
For peak season (October and November) — rice harvest and buckwheat bloom — we strongly recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Our jeeps are limited and weekends often sell out by mid-September.
For shoulder seasons (March–May), 2–3 weeks of notice is usually enough.
For low season (June–August, December–February), you can often book just 3–7 days ahead, though the most popular guides may already be assigned.
Private jeep tours fill faster than shared options, especially for combined Ha Giang–Cao Bang itineraries. If your dates are fixed, book early.
What is included in a Ha Giang by jeep tour package — meals, accommodation, and guide?
Every Ha Giang by Jeep tour is fully inclusive:
• Private 4×4 jeep with English-speaking local driver
• Fuel, tolls and parking fees
• All meals during the tour (breakfast, lunch, dinner — except the last dinner on the final day)
• Homestay, farmstay or hotel accommodation each night with private bathroom
• All entrance tickets and activities along the route
• Bottled water on board daily
• Border-zone permits where applicable (we handle the paperwork)
• 24/7 customer support from our Ha Giang City office
Not included: personal expenses, alcoholic drinks, tips for the driver and guide (optional, appreciated), travel insurance, room upgrades, and bus transfers between Hanoi and Ha Giang (available as add-on).
How much does a Ha Giang jeep tour typically cost per person?
Per-pax pricing depends on tour duration and group size. Because the jeep is private, the cost per person decreases as more travellers share the vehicle.
3D2N Ha Giang Loop jeep tour — from 7,990,000 VND/pax (3 pax) up to 14,990,000 VND/pax (solo)
4D3N Ha Giang Loop jeep tour — from 9,990,000 VND/pax (3 pax) up to 18,990,000 VND/pax (solo)
5D4N Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tour — from 13,990,000 VND/pax (3 pax) up to 24,990,000 VND/pax (solo)
6D5N Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tour — from 15,990,000 VND/pax (3 pax) up to 29,990,000 VND/pax (solo)
All prices are all-inclusive (driver, fuel, accommodation, meals, entrance tickets). For exact rates and current promotions, see our tour pricing page.
How many people share a jeep on a Ha Giang jeep tour, and can I book a private jeep for just my group?
Every Ha Giang by Jeep tour is private by default — you never share with strangers. The jeep, driver and itinerary are yours alone.
Our 4×4 jeeps comfortably seat 1 to 3 passengers with luggage. Pricing is per pax and decreases as your group grows: solo travellers pay the most, groups of 3 pay the least per person.
For larger groups (4–7 people) we use minivans or arrange a second jeep — get in touch for a custom quote.
Is a Ha Giang by jeep tour suitable for first-time visitors to Vietnam with no trekking experience?
Yes — a Ha Giang by Jeep tour is one of the easiest ways to experience northern Vietnam's mountains. No driving skills, no trekking experience and no Vietnamese language are required.
Your English-speaking local driver handles every kilometre, every switchback and every village stop. You sit back, watch the karst peaks roll past and step out only when you want to take photos, walk through a market or eat lunch.
It's particularly suitable for families with children, senior travellers, photographers carrying gear, solo female travellers, and anyone who wants the spectacular scenery of the Ha Giang Loop without the physical demands of a motorbike or the discomfort of a public bus.
Can I combine a Ha Giang Cao Bang jeep tour in one single trip, or do I need to book them separately?
You can absolutely do both in one trip — and it's far more rewarding than visiting each separately. Our 5D4N and 6D5N Ha Giang–Cao Bang jeep tours are designed exactly for this.
You start in Ha Giang City, ride the classic loop through the Dong Van Karst Plateau and Ma Pi Leng Pass, then continue east on remote mountain roads via Bao Lac and Khau Coc Cha switchbacks into Cao Bang province. The tour ends with the highlight: Ban Gioc Waterfall, Vietnam's largest, on the Chinese border.
The 6D5N adds a full day at Pac Bo Historic Site and visits to Thung Mountain (God's Eye Mountain) and Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda. The tour finishes in Cao Bang City — from there, an overnight bus runs back to Hanoi.
Can a Ha Giang Loop jeep tour depart directly from Hanoi, or do I need to get to Ha Giang on my own first?
The standard Ha Giang Loop jeep tour starts and ends in Ha Giang City, about 300 km north of Hanoi. The most popular way to get there is an overnight sleeping bus from Hanoi — 6 to 7 hours, departing around 21:00–22:00 and arriving in Ha Giang around 04:00–05:00.
We can book the bus for you as an add-on with four options: VIP sleeping bus, cabin sleeping bus (premium private beds), limousine van (5–6 hours, fastest), or regular sleeping bus (most affordable).
For travellers who prefer comfort and flexibility, we also arrange private door-to-door jeep transfers from Hanoi to Ha Giang at extra cost. This adds half a day each way but means zero waiting and pickup directly from your hotel.
Do I need any special permits or border zone paperwork for a Ha Giang Cao Bang jeep tour?
The classic Ha Giang Loop and most of the Cao Bang routes are open to international travellers without any special permit. However, several scenic stops near the Chinese border — including Lung Cu Flag Tower, Nho Que River, Ban Gioc Waterfall and Pac Bo Historic Site — sit inside official border zones.
Don't worry: we handle all border-zone permits and paperwork in advance. You only need to bring your passport with a valid Vietnam tourist visa (or a visa exemption if you're from a qualifying country — check current eligibility before you travel).
When you book, send us a clear photo of your passport's main page so we can prepare the permits before your jeep tour begins.
